Supplements, Yes or No?

I feel that we don't need many supplements in our lives if we are eating right. Most get what they need from the foods they eat. This is saying you are eating nourishing foods and not foods that deplete any vitamins in your body as well as inhibit your body from absorbing any good nutrients.

I have been a vegetarian for over 4 years and do feel that I need a B12 supplement. This is something that comes mainly from animal products. B12 is useful for your mood, stress levels, energy, and general functioning. You can get B12 from plant products, but only if from good soil used to grow them. Now most vegetables are grown in contaminated soil in some way.

Here are the vitamins that I take as well and my family. They are from Garden of Life and are from raw ingredients (uncooked, gluten free, no binders, or fillers). .

This other supplement for B12 is a spray also by Garden of Life and I had never used one before. It Certified organic, vegan, raw, and no added fillers or binders. I noticed increased energy within one spray of this in a day.

If I were to get another supplement, it may be the Vitamin D spray by this same company above. During the winter, it is harder to get sunlight and it may be dark and dreary most days. Vitamin D helps with calcium absorption as well as a healthy immune system.

There are reasons that I feel that most do need to get more Omega 3's in their diet also. You can get them from many foods such as flaxseeds, chia seeds, eggs, and fish. If you don't eat any of these things, then you may want to take a supplement. If I were to take an Omega 3 supplement, I would take a plant based vitamin due to being a vegetarian, but there is truly no reason to take any fish oil pill if you can get the same in a plant based. There may be risk for getting too much mercury in your pill and do more harm than good. I may get something like this.

The other picture above shows a family pill and these are what the family takes for a multi-vitamin as they are not getting all the nutrients they need in their foods just yet. This is full of all the vitamins they need as well as being vegan, raw, gluten free, no fillers.

The choice is up to you, but wanted to share with you some of my thoughts and what I take in addition to eating a plant-based diet. I eat no processed foods, no dairy, no animals products, no sugar, and no gluten products.
